Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Monte (Our Lady of Monte) is dedicated to Madeira's patron saint. On 15th August, thousands of locals make the annual pilgrimage to this place. The chapel o the left hoilds the tomb of the last of the Austro-Hungarian emperors, Charles I of Austria (and IV of Hungary) who died in Madeira in 1922.
